Actress Sarah Bolger has landed herself a new role as a musical prima donna in a World War One drama.

The Dubliner will star opposite French actor Gerard Depardieu in a film called It's Showtime, Siberia that has a budget of €12m.

Depardieu is set to play a Russian prisoner-of-war commander in the film which is to be shot by Oscar-nominated director Robert Dornhelm.

Jamie Campbell Bower, known for his roles in Harry Potter and Twilight stars as a conductor in a film.

The movie is due to begin shooting in Hungary next year and is set for release in 2016.

It's Showtime, Siberia revives the true story of how soldiers who were imprisoned in Siberian prisoner-of-war camps during World War One performed one of the most successful ever Central European stage musicals - The Czardash Princess.

Sarah first started turning heads in Jim Sheridan's In America.

She was nominated for several awards, including an Independent Spirit Award for best supporting actress and a Broadcast Film Critics award for best young actress for her role as the precocious young daughter, Christy, in the film.

She later went on to star as Lady Mary in top TV period drama The Tudors, opposite Irish heartthrob Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The Rathfarnham native has currently been courting fame due to her success in cult TV series Once Upon a Time in which she plays Princess Aurora.

Next year is set to be a busy one for the 23-year-old as she has a number of movies up for release.

She stars opposite Olivia Wilde, Evan Peters and Mark Duplass in a creepy thriller, Lazarus, in which medical students learn how to bring patients back to life.

Bolger also stars in My All American with The Dark Knight star Aaron Eckhart and The Mentalist's Robin Tunney.

The film tells the story of Freddie Steinmark, a star of college American Football who was diagnosed with cancer after winning the national title in 1969.

Bolger plays Linda Wheeler, Steinmark's high school sweetheart who follows him to college.

The busy actress has also just wrapped filming on Tyler Shield's movie Outlaw - about a famous photographer who catches his girlfriend cheating on him with his best friend and who must find out the truth behind the betrayal.

She stars as girlfriend Michelle in Outlaw and no doubt Sarah is set to be a leading lady from now on.
