Julie Walters won't take a chance on Mamma Mia! sequel
Julie Walters is enjoying the luxury of spending time on her farm and only taking on 'special' projects.
Whatever else the much-speculated-upon sequel to the film Mamma Mia! may have to offer, it won't be Julie Walters.
The 60-year-old actress, who danced on a table singing Take a Chance on Me in the original, told Mandrake that the idea didn't appeal.
"I don't want to go there again," she said at the Woman of the Year Awards at the Intercontinental Hotel in Park Lane. "When you've done things like Mo, Short Stay in Switzerland and Harry Potter, it's very difficult to follow that.
"I haven't retired but, over the years, home has become more precious, so in order for me to go to work it has got to be something I find special – otherwise I'd just as soon stop at home."
Walters was keen to add that, while the second installment of Mamma Mia! does not appeal to her, her experience working on the original was "fantastic".
