IFTA host Simon films in US with Kiefer
IRISH actor Simon Delaney has wrapped up filming on a new series with Hollywood great Kiefer Sutherland.
The Bachelors Walk actor's star is on the rise after he landed a role in Sean Penn's epic This Must Be The Place.
The IFTA's presenter then went on to appear in the political drama series The Good Wife with Eddie Izzard.
But it is his latest appearance in Touch which will push him up the LA pecking order.
Sutherland, synonymous with the role of Jack Bauer in 24, takes on the role of a single father unable to connect to his mute 11-year-old son, Jake in the 13-part series.
But everything changes when Jake shows his near superpower ability with numbers and to see patterns that connect seemingly unrelated events.
Dubliner Simon said that he has never been busier and made several trips over to the US last year and he has even bigger plans for 2012.
"I went out there for two months in the summer and while I was there I landed a lovely little job called Touch, which is Kiefer Sutherland's new show. I auditioned for the pilot and got the part," he said.
Simon is in the opening episode of the show, but he has been assured that it's not a one-time part.
"I don't die. I don't fall down an elevator shaft like Joey Tribbiani," he joked.
"The word from the producers is that the character is going to reappear in season one. At least that is what they are saying anyway."
And although he's presently in Ireland filming for Chris O'Dowd's new show, Simon said he has plans to go back across the pond as he has landed a part in a movie called Living Impaired alongside Bo Bridges, Julia Ormond and Angela Kinsey.
He will also host the 9th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards.
