Gillen the villain cast as baddie in sci-fi flick
Former Love/Hate star Aidan Gillen is to play a top villain in The Maze Runner sequel.
The Wire actor has been cast as Janson in The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Director Wes Ball said he "couldn't be happier" as he confirmed the casting for the sci-fi film which will be released next year.
"Aidan Gillen is playing Janson, aka Rat-Man, in the sequel. He was my first choice, so I couldn't be happier," said Wes.
It's a huge boost for Gillen - the first film released in America last week made more than €25m at the box office on its opening weekend.
Meanwhile, former Boyzone singer Keith Duffy claims RTE bosses never got in touch with him after axing him from Love/Hate.
Keith played personal trainer Mark last season, but said this season his character was meant to have a bigger part to play.
"I had a small role in the fourth season because it was introducing my character ahead of a much bigger plot line in this series," he said.
"No one rang or said 'sorry, we've decided we're not going to use you'. What I got instead was total silence."
