Dublin model wins top role in RTE's gangland drama

Dublin model Sue Loughnane has turned her efforts to acting after landing the lead female role in the second series of RTE hit Love/Hate.

The gangland drama which received massive ratings for RTE last year, boasts The Wire's Aidan Gillen and Bafta-nominated actor Robert Sheehan among its leading men.

Now Malahide model Loughnane will be showing the world that she isn't just a pretty face when the series airs later on RTE Two later this year.

Although the details of her role are being kept under wraps for now, as is the plotline, we can reveal that she will be playing the love interest of John Boy Power, played by Gillen, and stars in all six episodes of the mini-series.

She previously landed a role on the RTE show Single-Handed, but is set to become a household name thanks to her latest efforts.

Love/Hate is set in Dublin's gangland following a small-time drug gang and their surrounding community.

The show averaged 475,000 viewers per week, beating its predecessor The Clinic, which occupied the time slot before it and had a successful seven-season run.

The gangland drama has wowed the critics too, and has earned an impressive 10 IFTA nominations.
