Anchorman 2 stars to hit city for film premiere
STAY classy Dublin – Anchorman is on his way.
It's the breaking news that only Ron Burgundy could do justice to.
The entire San Diego Channel 4 news team are set to walk the red carpet at the Savoy for a special premiere.
Paramount Pictures stopped short of saying they were a "glass full of emotion" about the development, but admitted they were "excited to announce that the cast and filmmakers of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues are coming to Dublin for the Irish premiere".
Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and director Adam McKay will be in the capital on December 9.
The new film follows San Diego's top-rated newsman Ron (Ferrell) and his team as they emerge from the 1970s.
Also back is his co-anchor and wife Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weatherman Brick Tamland (Carell), man-on-the-street Brian Fontana (Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner).
No word yet, though, on whether legendary RTE newswoman Anne Doyle (inset) will get the opportunity to upstage Ron on the red carpet.
She recently hit the headlines after producers used a vintage clip of her work at the start of a trailer for the film. The snippet dates from the mid-1980s, and the accompanying voice-over cites Anne's time presenting as a golden age of news reportage.
Producers of the upcoming sequel have hand-picked news anchors from different territories to feature in the trailer.
The movie opens in Irish cinemas on December 20.
