Charlene taking time off ahead of Broadway debut

IT's been a busy summer, but Charlene McKenna (inset) is enjoying a well-deserved break after completing filming on Ripper Street.

Former Raw star Charlene reprises her role of prostitute Rose Erskine in the forthcoming instalment of the programme, set in London's Whitechapel in 1889.

Ripper Street was saved by online retailer Amazon who has funded series three.

It is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Instant Video at the end of the year and then return to BBC One at a later date.

Dark-haired beauty Charlene is now preparing to jet off to the Big Apple.

The 30-year-old recently made West End debut after returning to the stage for the first time in five years in an adaptation of the play Ghosts. debut It was such a hit with audiences, it enjoyed an extended run until March at London's Trafalgar Studios.

She's now due to pack her bags and head to New York for her Broadway theatre debut in 2015, when she'll rejoin the cast of Richard Eyre's version of Henrik Ibsen's classic.

While she will soon be based across the Atlantic, Charlene's close pal and fellow Monaghan native Aoibhinn McGinnity is planning a trip to the US to catch up with the starlet once she's settled there.
