Xcelerate's Rachel admits to sexism on motoring show

Former model Rachel Wyse has admitted she was subjected to more than a little sexism when she started working on motoring show Xcelerate.

"The main thing people focused on was 'Can she actually drive?' and wondered what I was bringing to the job," the 25-year-old said.

"There are very few female motoring correspondents out there but hopefully I have proved myself."

The hit show debuted on 3e late last year and met with such a good response from motorheads that it prompted bosses to move it to TV3, with the first programme hitting the small screen last night.

And model-turned-presenter Rachel, who once dated top showjumper Cian O'Connor, has promised viewers plenty more footage of her test driving the latest boy toys to hit the market in 2010.

"We got a great reaction to the show last year and have some really great cars lined up for this season, including a few supercars that not too many of us have seen on Irish roads yet," she explained.
