X Factor girl to sing at Alan's wedding
A DUBLIN girl who was rejected by the X Factor judges is set to shine at the showbiz wedding of the year.
Alan Hughes and Karl Broderick have asked Laura O'Neill to perform at their nuptials on Friday.
Just days after missing out on her dream at the X Factor bootcamp, Laura landed her first high-profile gig.
She will now have a chance to wow some of Ireland's top celebrities.
Speaking to the Herald, Laura (22) said Alan and Karl especially asked her to perform on their big day at the Mansion House.
"I don't know the full line-up yet. Alan and Karl rang their wedding planner and asked for me. I actually sang at their wedding planner's own wedding before. The guys were listening to my stuff on YouTube and asked the planner if I was available so it's great.
"She had been telling them about me and that I was on the X Factor so they booked me as soon as I got home," she explained.
Other artists due to take to the wedding stage include former Eurovision entrant Brian Kennedy and Ballyfermot X Factor queen Mary Byrne.
The guest list has not been fully revealed but invitees include celebs such as Rosanna Davison, Pippa O'Connor and Georgia Salpa.
"It will just be like any other gig really but it will be great to play with such accomplished artists. It's great what has happened already."
Laura admits that the gig will be daunting, but added: "I can't wait to meet Brian Kennedy and I'll have a good chat with Mary about the X Factor definitely."
And the Dublin star, who is currently dating Royseven drummer Dazzy Oglesby, confirmed that there have been several complaints by Irish viewers of the show because most performances were cut short.
But Laura, who is also a singer in the Dublin band The Firm, says the axing of her audition tape didn't bother her, even though Dublin singer Melanie McCabe recently revealed she was annoyed that her audition was cut short.
"There was loads of us Irish that they didn't show, there was a bit of uproar about it but I'm not too bothered to be honest."
