We're Eurovision dream team, says Rebecca
X Factor star Rebecca Creighton (21) has called on the Irish public to get behind her and Jedward (19) in their Eurosong bid.
And the Herald can reveal that girlband Belle Amie will be having "crisis talks" as they discuss the future of the band now that Geneva Lane has left it.
Tallaght-born crooner Rebecca will be lending her vocals to John and Edward Grimes' rendition of Lipstick on the Late Late Show on February 11.
She is also urging viewers to leave their prejudices aside when it comes to the madcap twins -- and judge the song on its own merits.
"They have a great following but I know they get a mixed reaction and not everyone loves them. They're just two young boys having the craic," she said.
"People have to listen to the song first before deciding whether they like it or not and not just switch off because it's them. I hope they'll support us.
"Their mentor Caroline [Downey Desmond] rang me about a week and a half ago about doing this so I had a good think about it and just decided to do it today.
"I met the twins before, backstage at X Factor, and we had a good yap, they seem like lovely lads and I'm really looking forward to doing this. I also have a little quiff going on myself, so I should blend in!"
However, there is now a storm of speculation about the future of Belle Amie.
Rebecca confirmed that herself, Sophia Wardman and Esther Campbell will decide later this week on the future of the band.
"I don't know what's going to happen, to be honest," she said. "We just need to all sit down together and decide what's happening."
