Una might try to push baby out early to stop me playing Ireland, jokes Ben

ENGLISH rugby star Ben Foden has described his pregnant popstar fiancee Una Healy as his "angel" -- but still hopes to beat her native country in the Six Nations this year.

Ben (26) praised Tipperary native Una, for her relentless hard work despite being six-and-a-half months pregnant.

Ben, who plays for Northampton as well as England, commended The Saturdays singer for her determination to carry on working in the recording studio and admitted she is the best thing to happen to him off the rugby pitch.

"It's quite nice for me to have that distraction. To come home and see Una -- she's been superb through the whole thing. She's been an angel," he said.

However, full-back Ben insisted he wants to welcome his first child into the world as a Six Nations champion in March and that the timing could be "impeccable".

The sporting star is confident England will beat Ireland at Twickenham on St Patrick's Day, only days before the couple's first baby is due.

While Ben hopes to be at pop singer Una's side in the labour ward, he joked that she may push for an early birth to stop him playing against her home team.

"Yes, my missus being Irish, she might be pushing that little extra for an early delivery.

"Obviously, it would be terrible timing but there's only a certain amount of times I'll play for England and it'd be a hard call. It depends on how my emotions were, because if head and heart weren't on the game, there would be no point in playing."

The pair are expecting their first child on March 21 and the Munster girl vowed to continue with the chart-topping girl band despite her blossoming baby bump.

A regular on the red carpet, thanks to Una, Ben said that he has no problems getting photographed at glamorous events and feels at ease at the attention the couple receive.
