TV's Anna eyes role as model mum-to-be with a return to the catwalk

PREGNANT TV star Anna Daly looks set to return to her modelling roots by fronting a new campaign for her hubby's company Mothercare.

The presenter (33), who previously graced the catwalk as a teenager, is looking forward to following in the footsteps of yummy mummies Lorraine Keane, Lucy Kennedy and Alison Canavan by taking on a number of modelling assignments for the family-run company, where her husband Ben Ward is E-Commerce Manager.

And lucky Anna will have no problem dressing her bump throughout the remainder of her pregnancy, given that she will have the pick of the store's Spring/Summer collection.

The Ireland AM star has just reached the four month mark and says she can't wait to welcome her first child into the world next August.

"The first three months were fine and there was no evident bump at all but for the last two or three weeks I've been feeling bigger and more conscious of it," Anna told the Herald.

"Thankfully I will have no problem when it comes to finding maternity clothes as there's a link to Mothercare with my husband, it's his family business.

"Obviously I would be happy to do bits and pieces for them, we'll have to see what comes up," she added.

The chatty blonde went on to explain how the couple felt now was the right time to start their family after enjoying two-and-a-half years of marriage together.

They wed at an intimate family ceremony in Portugal in September 2008, just weeks before Anna made the transition from TV3's marketing department to her current role as a television presenter with the station.

"I'm delighted. We had always planned on having children, it's just hard to time it properly," Anna explained. "The way we feel at the moment is that the time is right for us now, I've settled really well into Ireland AM and it feels right to start a family.

"I will be aiming to work as close to my due date as possible, all going well. I think the time off after you have the baby is more important so you can spend as much time as possible with them. I'll play it by ear as to how long I'll take."

Anna also revealed how she will be grilling her TV3 colleague Colette Fitzpatrick for advice on motherhood once she returns to work in the coming weeks.

The bubbly broadcaster will also be able to swap tips with fellow TV3 presenter Andrea Hayes, who is currently five-and-a-half months pregnant with her first child.
