TV dating didn't work out, but lucky Fennell has found love at last
HE FIRST shot to fame after going public in his hunt for a girlfriend on national TV.
Dublin star Eamon Fennell proved he was game for a laugh last year by appearing on TV3's Take Me Out programme.
He put himself at the mercy of 30 single ladies on the show and left with a pretty date on his arm -- but it didn't work out.
However, the Herald can reveal that he is now over that short-lived romance and has fallen into the arms of another beauty.
Dozens of female fans will be devastated to learn that Fennell is spending this week celebrating his first All-Ireland medal with his girlfriend, Fiona Creely (26).
The 27-year-old has been enjoying major celebrity status since beating Kerry last weekend and says it's been a whirlwind.
"The celebrations have been great, we've had very little sleep since the win," he told the Herald.
"As soon as the final whistle went it was pure excitement, it was amazing -- I'm going to party for as long as I can now."
The midfielder is also looking forward to some quality time with his stunning girlfriend.
"Our lives are quite hectic, so I'm looking forward to taking her out to a few comedy gigs, now that I'll have more time off."
The loved-up pair have been pals for years and started dating in January. Rathfarnham native Fiona has become great friends with the WAGs of the team, and says it's nice to have others who understand what it's like to be involved with an athlete.
"I love all the wives and girlfriends -- we have a really good laugh together," she said.
On hand to support her man, Fiona said it has been a rollercoaster of events since Sunday's epic clash.
"The atmosphere has been fantastic -- we've loved every moment of it and I'm still trying to take it all in."
