Trevor loses his spot on the Afternoon Show sofa
Trevor Keegan has been axed from RTE's The Afternoon Show.
The Herald can reveal the former AA Roadwatch correspondent will not return to the small screen this autumn.
The presenter started his career with RTE as an entertainment reporter on The Afternoon Show five years ago.
He went on to present the programme every Friday afternoon alongside Blaithnaid Ni Chofaigh, with Sheana Keane working a four-day week.
And when Keane absented herself from work in March, for "personal reasons", Trevor was asked to step into her shoes.
However, he has found himself out in the cold this season, explaining that he will not be back when the programme returns to RTE next Monday.
He said: "As it stands right now I am not contractually connected with the programme. I'm not, by the looks of it, going to be back this year.
"I don't really know any more than that right now, I'm afraid."
Trevor went on to express his disappointment over the loss of the TV job.
He said: "I absolutely loved working on the show.
"I'd still love to be involved in the show -- but even if I'm not, I wish them all the very best for the next season, they're a great team."
Trevor was also previously involved with Podge and Rodge, but said he is taking a break from the show this year.
But he revealed: "There's another research project I'm working on at the moment and I'm also involved in a writing project but I can't say much about it right now."
