The Posh Spice lookalike who has divided opinions

SULTRY Apprentice solicitor Caroline McHugh turned her back on a high-flying legal career to join the show.

The 26-year-old, who was at the centre of the "cosy cartel" in the house, applied to be on the TV3 show as she was itching for a new life.

Just months after qualifying, the young Roscommon businesswoman felt she wanted a change.

"She was really keen to get back into city living. She ultimately wants a job in a busy legal firm, most likely in a media department," a pal said. "This was one of the reasons she entered the competition."

The newly-trained solicitor hoped her legal background would assist her in the hot-tempered atmosphere of the boardroom.

But Bill Cullen has already noted that her lack of sales experience could work against her. In last night's task Bill asked her to explain how she didn't manage to sell even one power tool.

Caroline had no answer for the multi-millionaire businessman and could only say: "I did my best."

Bill said he wouldn't stand for weak team members and is looking for someone with initiative.

"I don't want lambs," he said. "Do you know what happens to lambs? They get slaughtered."

Fired Apprentice Kieran Walsh (28) has dismissed any suggestion of a romantic liaison between himself and Caroline, but he has admitted he was trying to protect the meek businesswoman in the boardroom.

Caroline and Kieran were close pals with Jamie Moran (29) in the house and Kieran said that his own girlfriend, Mary (24) is quite friendly with the trio.

In the first week's task, the Roscommon woman was given credit for realising during a car journey that four other women in her team were going nowhere in the first week's task.

But she has been singled out as having the least amount of business experience in the competition.

Friends from home say the young single is a "fun person, always up for a laugh".

"She's not shy to make a fool of herself and have fun," they said.

"But, in saying that, she is responsible and knows where the line is and doesn't cross it."

The stylish solicitor models herself on Victoria Beckham but pals said she doesn't over-do it.

"Caroline has her own look, she tends to keep her make up pretty natural," they said.

She hopes to become a legal assistant or agent to celebrities.
