SINGER Susan McFadden is to get her claws into Andrew Loyd Webber's Cats.

The sister of ex-Westlife star Brian McFadden will return to the capital this summer after landing a lead role in the famous musical.

Susan (30) will join the stellar cast of West End production Cats when it stops over in Dublin for a three-week run at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in August.

"The nerves will be immense," she said. "It's always tough on your home turf, so I will be panicky about it."

The singer, who is engaged to actor boyfriend Adam Booth, has just finished a gruelling tour with double-platinum-selling music group Celtic Woman.

It will be the first time that Cats has been staged in Ireland in 21 years and Andrew Lloyd Webber's record- breaking adaptation is one of the longest running shows in West End and Broadway history.

Susan first achieved her theatre credentials when she won the ITV reality TV show Grease Is The Word in 2007 and was subsequently cast as Sandy in the West End production of Grease.

She then went on to star as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde The Musical at the Savoy Theatre in the UK.

In Cats, Susan will take up the role of Grizabella, a formerly glamorous feline who is feeling a little more than washed up.

The Dublin native is looking forward to getting her teeth into the role.

"I normally play the girl-next-door type and the last role I had on stage was Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, so this is very different for me," Susan said.

"The character originated with Elaine Paige, so that's a real honour to follow in her footsteps."
