Style queen Liz flying in to add sparkle to VIP awards

The VIP Style Awards are set to receive some extra glamour this year as actress Elizabeth Hurley will be jetting in for the ceremony, the Herald can reveal.

The star (44) is as well known for her fashion sense as her films and modelling work, and recently raised eyebrows when she wore a see-through sari-style dress to a charity ball.

The Austin Powers actress will be appearing at the glitzy bash on March 12 as some of Ireland's best known personalities vie to be crowned the country's most fashionable.

Grainne Seoige, Amy Huberman, Colette Fitzpatrick and Anne Doyle are all hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Lorraine Keane and be named Ireland's Best Dressed Woman.

While The Clinic may have been axed from RTE, two of its stars are still being praised for their style efforts. Amy Huberman has long been noted for her down-to-earth style, and has received the nod for her efforts, alongside actress and socialite Victoria Smurfit.

Two notable first time nominees are Ireland AM's Anna Daly, who has been thrust into the limelight since joining the TV3 show, and Gerry Ryan's ex, Morah.

A number of former winners have continued to stay ahead of the style pack, with model agent and stylist Celia Holman Lee making the cut for the eighth year running. Serial nominee Rosanna Davison is also in with a chance to win this year.

Xpose presenter Sean Munsanje is hoping to become Ireland's Most Stylish Man. He's been nominated alongside self-proclaimed "young fogey" and Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy. And the reluctantly stylish presenter is joined by his girlfriend Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain, who is nominated in the women's category.

Rugby hunk Gordon D'Arcy will also be vying for the award, alongside some surprising candidates including Ireland AM contributor Noel Cunningham, restaurateur Nick Munier and weatherman Daithi O Se.

Former Late Late Show host Gay Byrne, alongside his wife Kathleen Watkins, show that they are still leading in the style stakes in their seventies and some of the country's hottest young celebrities have also joined the ranks.

Newly engaged couple Pippa O'Connor and Brian Ormond have been nominated once again, counting Aidan Power and Vivienne Bushell among the competition.

All details on how to vote are in this month's edition of VIP Magazine.
