Sile and Grainne help RTE pal Tubs through his split

Break up: RTE's Ryan Tubridy begins single life at Buble concert

RYAN TUBRIDY put his break-up blues behind him at the weekend as he started the latest chapter of his life as a singleton at the Michael Buble show.

Within hours of the Herald revealing Tubridy had broken up with former Rose of Tralee Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain, Tubs was enjoying himself in a corporate box at the Aviva Stadium.

Tubridy attended the event with his parents and enjoyed the night's entertainment.

The RTE 2fm presenter has been eased through the split by Sile and Grainne Seoige.

RTE sources have told the Herald that the glamorous Galway sisters were among the first to contact The Late Late Show host once news of the shock split began doing the rounds of Montrose corridors last week.

The sisters are even believed to have met up with the heartbroken star in recent days to offer their support as he comes to terms with the latest break-up in his troubled love life.

The reasons for the break-up with the secondary school teacher have been put down to Tubridy's "hectic work schedule".

Both Grainne and Sile have been through difficult marriage break-ups of their own in the past two years, both of which were played out under the glare of the media spotlight.

"Like everyone else in RTE Sile and Grainne were stunned when they heard the news that they have gone their separate ways," said a source close to the sisters.

"They would be quite close to Ryan, particularly Sile, who has been doing a lot of radio work lately.

"They also share the same agent as Ryan, Noel Kelly, and were often seen socialising with himself and Aoibhinn at different social events over the past year or so.

"He's lucky to have people like them in his life to turn to for support now."

Loyal Sile was determined she would be remaining tight lipped about her friend's personal life when asked about the break-up today.

"The way I see it is that it's not up to me or anyone like me to comment on someone's personal life like that," she said. "As far as I'm concerned it's not right that things like that are in the papers," she added.

Sile split from her husband of three years, Glen Mulcahy, in January 2009 and chose to issue a brief statement at the time, appealing for privacy.

The brunette beauty has since found love in the arms of RTE floor manager Kim Burrows, whose Dad, Wesley Burrows, created Glenroe.

Devastated Tubridy is said to be keen to throw himself into his work.

He is due to publish his first book, JFK in Ireland, on November 5, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the president's election.

Tubridy (36), who is also getting to grips with his new 2FM slot and presenting his second season of The Late Late Show, had also been due to step out to celebrate the first Anniversary of the successful Love Irish Food initiative tomorrow afternoon. It is unclear whether the private star will go ahead with the appearance.

Both he and Aoibhinn (27) have yet to comment on the break-up since it was confirmed exclusively by the Herald last Saturday.

Turbridy has two children, Julia (5) and Ella (10) from his previous two-year marriage to RTE producer, Anne Marie Power, which ended in 2006.
