The number of people doing their family trees has doubled, as people are inspired by the TV show Who Do You Think You Are?
Rosanna Davison, Ryan Tubridy, and Ivan Yates are among the Irish celebrities who have been delving into their family histories on the RTE genealogy programme.
The General Registers Office reports a 200pc increase in the number of people looking for documentation to trace their ancestors.
A spokesperson said the increase was totally linked to the programme, and a lot of people were eager to uncover great family secrets.
"There's been a huge increase between the last seven to ten weeks, but it takes a bit of hard work, it's a hard slog." Some 1,662 people visited the National Archives in August, making it the busiest month at the centre this year.
Aideen Ireland, the National Archives Head of Reader Services said Wednesday was their busiest day, as people watched the show on Monday night and got organised on Tuesdays.
