She hasn't had a lead movie role in years, yet is troubled actress Lindsay Lohan about to turn a career corner, following the announcement that she is the face of a new collection from German designer Philipp Plein?
The Mean Girls actress will appear in spring/summer 2012 ads for the German brand, and follows in the footsteps of Mischa Barton, who appeared in the label's campaign in 2010.
It's a welcome change of fortune for the actress who, earlier this year, was sentenced to four months in jail after changing her court plea and effectively admitting not paying for a €2,500 gold necklace from a Los Angeles department store.
The 25-year-old has been in desperate need of worthwhile work for a while. She has been in and out of jail and drug rehab for the past four years. The star of Freaky Friday is more likely to turn up in the papers for her chaotic personal life rather than her movie roles.
Her relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson had so many downs and way downs that the Los Angeles gossip circuit went into overdrive when the pair was spotted back out together earlier this year.
Lohan and Ronson began dating in 2008, and had a number of very public break-ups and make-ups over the course of their rocky romance, one of which ended so badly that Ronson's family filed a restraining order against Lohan.
Yet the two were writing flirtatious Twitter messages to each other after Valentine's Day, with Lohan alluding to a romantic meal they had had.
Meanwhile, bisexual actress Lohan was reportedly spotted getting cosy last week with a New York hotelier called Vikram Chatwal in New York.
Lohan was in the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week, and reportedly left a party at Chatwal's five-star Dream Hotel in Manhattan last week to meet him at his apartment.
Lohan's representatives have denied that the movie star and hotelier are a couple.
So could Lohan be about to do some work which might pay the bills?
There has also been speculation that Lohan's changing facial features -- more rounded and puffed up -- are the result of expensive cosmetic procedures. The actress has admitted the collaboration with German designer Philipp Plein came about in a rather rushed and 'spontaneous' way.
She hadn't met Plein until recently, or seen a stitch of the designer's new line until a couple of weekends ago. Yet last week she posed for Plein's new campaign at a shoot in Lake Como, Italy.
"Something important to know about this collection is that it's expressing something a little bit more edgy," the actress said while wearing a skintight black dress with spikes on the shoulders. "And I think maybe people's perceptions of me have been kind of taken out of context just from what you see and read."
Could this be a new model Lohan we're listening to?
