'Playing for Spielberg on Oscar night was amazing'

DUBLIN indie twins Heathers say playing in front of Hollywood director Steven Spielberg at a glitzy Oscar party last month was one of the highlights of their career to date.

Twin sisters Louise and Ellie Macnamara (23) were one of the Irish acts to perform at the eighth annual Oscar Wilde Party last month.

They 23-year-old sisters from Blackrock say it is a night that neither of them will ever forget.

"We played in front of Steven Spielberg, Colin Farrell and JJ Abrams. It was a very strange and very surreal experience," Ellie told the Herald.

With a room packed full of movie execs and A-list stars, Ellie and Louise were concerned they would suffer from last minute nerves, but once they took to the stage everything fell into place.

And Lincoln director Spielberg was a big fan of the girls' catchy and melodic tunes. "He seemed to like our song Forget Me Knots," Ellie says.

"After the set we chatted to him and Abrams – he was really nice, very modest. We didn't get chance to talk to Colin, but he looked great."

While film starlets were decked out in couture gowns, Ellie and Louise turned to high street giant Topshop for their Oscar threads.

"We just went for loads of Topshop clothes. I wore a white dress with a jacket with loads of studs on it. But we got our hair and make up done to look a bit more glam," said Ellie.
