Our girls light up Hollywood

THE red carpet turned green ahead of the Oscars last night as the Irish lined out in California.

Glamorous Claudine Keane (28) and Amy Huberman led a cast of Irish celebrities including Colin Farrell, Victoria Smurfit, Sharon Corr and Jim Sheridan.

But there were some gate-crashers too at US-Ireland Alliance Pre-Academy Awards event in Santa Monica including Michelle Williams.

But lingerie model Claudine proved she could hold her own among the Hollywood elite.

And she left hubbie Robbie Keane at home after explaining how he has a game this Sunday with LA Galaxy and wanted to stay fresh.

She told the Herald how she couldn't wait to attend the showbiz bash, her first time at the event as she gets stuck into her new life.

"I'm really looking forward to it. I've never been before," she said.

They had been staying in a villa in the sun-kissed city of Dubai after she and the soccer star got a well-deserved break after his temporary transfer to Aston Villa.

Guest of honour on the night was Academy Award nominee Michelle, who was presented with an Oscar Wilde award after wowing audiences with her acclaimed performance of Marilyn Monroe in the movie about the late icon.

The event was hosted by Kenneth Branagh and Mission Impossible producer JJ Abrams. Also on the the guest list were star Dana Delany, Jason O'Mara and Victoria Smurfit.
