Now no danger of catwalk queens baring claws

A LAST-minute intervention has prevented a major handbags at dusk incident at tomorrow night's Walkers TV Now Awards.

Former Miss World Rosanna Davison will not be forced to present her rival Glenda Gilson with an award at the event.

The Herald can confirm that the one-time beauty queen and model, who is due to take to the stage to present a gong at the star-studded bash, has been moved from the category of Most Glamorous TV Star in the interest of avoiding a spat in front of the cameras.

It had been widely anticipated that Rosie (26) would be given that category to present -- given that her profile is largely built around maintaining her glamorous image. However, organisers have moved swiftly to ensure she is saved an awkward encounter with her fellow Assets modelling colleague.

Glenda (29) is one of the favourites to walk away with the coveted gong on the night.

"Rosanna definitely won't be presenting that category, there's no question. It had been mentioned but we wouldn't do that to her," said an awards insider.

"She will still be presenting an award on the night and it will be one of the big ones, however, the final line-up and order of presenters on the night has yet to be confirmed.

"It is not in anyone's interests to have drama of any sort on the night. This is going to be a professional, televised event," the insider added.

Rosanna and fellow catwalk queen, Glenda, had a much-publicised falling out last March after Chris de Burgh's daughter jetted off on a last-minute trip to Marrakesh with billionaire property developer Johnny Ronan.

The Moroccan getaway came about just one day after Glenda and Johnny, her ex, became caught up in a heated argument, which has since been dubbed the 'Ranelagh Rumble'.

Tomorrow night's ceremony at Mansion House will mark the high-profile beauties first public meeting since the falling out and there looks to have been little thaw in their frosty relationship in recent months.

Earlier this week Rosanna revealed how she has no qualms about coming face to face with Glenda, who is due to co-present the event alongside VIP magazine publisher Michael O'Doherty.

"Meeting Glenda publicly has never been an issue for me. I don't exactly have anything to feel guilty about so I won't be giving it a second thought," Rosanna insisted.

Meanwhile, TV3's Glenda said she would be too busy working on the night to have 'catfights' of any type.
