No rush to relax for mum-to-be Andrea

THERE'S less than two weeks until she's due to give birth but TV3 presenter Andrea Hayes is in no hurry to wind down.

The Animal A&E co-host's maternity leave from the station began yesterday, but the self-confessed workaholic was still hard at work last night as she took to the airwaves to present her daily radio show on Dublin's Country Mix, Sunshine 106.8.

Mum-to-be Andrea, who is expecting a baby girl with her hubby Dave Torpey, says she is planning to put her feet up and relax next week.

The presenter suffered serious back injuries in a snowboarding accident 10 years ago and admits it is a consideration for her when it comes to the birth.

"I'm a little bit concerned about it," she told the Diary. "I've decided to go the natural route because that's what I wanted.

"There was a moment three weeks ago when a C-section was definitely on the table but hopefully it won't be necessary.

"The doctors have been very supportive of my decision.

"They've been really monitoring me very closely after I had my back condition.

"Everyone's been telling me I need to just relax now so I'm just wrapping up the last few bits and pieces workwise.

"We finished two hour long specials for Animal A&E on puppy farming and equine farming last week and then I'm just doing a last bit of work for Sunshine," she added.

Andrea has had great support from her fellow colleagues at TV3, with Ireland AM presenter Anna Daly and Xpose's Aisling O'Loughlin also expecting.
