No Frontiers for Jenny's new role
THE newest addition to No Frontiers, Jenny Buckley, looks set to stay on the series next season in a larger role.
The Herald can reveal plans are underway to bring the RTE travel show back to the small screen next year, with Dubliner Jenny set to take on a more prevalent role alongside regular presenter Kathryn Thomas.
A number of changes to the format are also said to be underway, with plans to have some links similar to those of TV3's The Holiday Show, where co-presenters Jon and Ciara present from locations together.
"There had been a lot of rumours about the show and what its future is after the current series, but they are keen to keep it going for at least another year if they can," said a Montrose insider.
"They want to spice it up a bit and some ideas are being thrown around at the moment.
"One idea was to have some co-presented links between Kathryn Thomas and Jenny Buckley.
"TV3's The Holiday Show is a much newer format and they think it works well to have the two of them bouncing off one another.
"Sile Seoige could also be involved in some level. She went to Thailand for three weeks earlier this year and she really impressed with her footage," they added.
Filming is due to begin on the series in the coming months and Jenny is said to be ecstatic about the news that she is in contention for a more prevalent presenting role.
When contacted by the Herald she said she could not comment on her future on the programme.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for RTE said they could not confirm any future plans for the show until next September.
"No decision like that would be made until closer to the time and we won't be disclosing any information about it," said a representative for the Montrose television station.
Frontier Film Productions was also keeping quiet on the matter, but one show insider revealed how they were confidant the programme would definitely return.
Meetings are said to be underway to decide where Kathryn and Jenny will visit on the next run of the show.
Jenny will also feature in an upcoming summer commission.
