My Valentine's trip is work... honest, says Laura
MOST would be happy with dinner at a nice restaurant but MTV star Laura Whitmore will be celebrating Valentine's Day in Dubai.
But while it sounds like the Bray native has planned a special day with boyfriend Danny O'Reilly, it is a little less romantic.
The celebrity duo jetted off yesterday after attending the IFTAs bash together at Dublin's Convention Centre over the weekend.
However, Laura, who has been dating The Coronas frontman Danny for almost two years, revealed the trip is far from being a romantic getaway for the loved-up pair.
She said: "I know I'm going to sound really fancy, but it's actually not. The boys have a gig out in Dubai so I'm tagging along. It's actually not a romantic holiday and they actually are working but it's still nice to get away."
The Coronas, whose new single Mark My Words was released this week, are in Dubai to perform two gigs at McGettigan's Irish bar on February 16 and 17.
And I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here Now! host Laura will be on hand to offer some loving support.
But the blonde star also confessed that when it comes to romance she could learn a lot from her singing beau Danny.
"Danny is very romantic, I'm not," she said. "It's okay though, I think Valentine's Day is all for the girls."
Wicklow girl Laura is getting in some much-needed rest before she jets back to London to host the behind-the-scenes TV coverage at the Brit Awards next week.
And the TV star, who will appear alongside British comedian Keith Lemon at the music bash on February 21, also admitted she's excited about coming face to face with Rihanna.
"I've probably met a lot of them, but I want to meet them again. I haven't met Rihanna and she's going to be there. That's going to be exciting."
But despite mingling with the world's biggest stars, Laura, who shot to fame in 2008 as a presenter on MTV, insists she's taking her rise to fame very much in her stride. "It's just a bit blurry you know, I'm just living each day as it comes, I mean you just don't know how long it's going to last."
Meanwhile, RTE star Jennifer Maguire is preparing to spend the love-fest alone.
She said: "My boyfriend is in Serbia shooting a feature film so this Valentine's Day I'll be alone.
"I don't really mind though, he is good to me and romantic during the year so I don't really need him to confess his undying love."
But despite flying solo for the night, Republic of Telly star Jen, who is dating English actor Lau Zamparelli, insisted she won't be sitting at home scoffing boxes of chocolates.
"I'm too busy filming the new series at the moment. I probably won't even get that luxury."
