Mum's the word... baby boom at TV3 proves to be headache for bosses struggling to fill slots

THE great summer shake-up has begun at TV3 as the station bosses struggle to fill spots for their top female presenters.

The Ballymount station has been going through a lot of changes as staff have been taking time off for maternity leave.

As a result, there's been a major reshuffle of their leading women broadcasters to cover the empty spots -- and no doubt it's starting to leave viewers confused.

It all began last year when Ireland AM's Anna Daly and Xpose's Aisling O'Loughlin bowed out to give birth.

Laura Woods, who formerly worked in RTE, was enlisted to take Anna's place on the breakfast panel, but producers also had Aisling's job to fill.

Welcoming her first child in December, the 33-year-old was temporarily replaced by soccer girl Kirsteen O'Sullivan. Clare native Aisling, who was an integral part of the Xpose team alongside Karen Koster, Lisa Cannon and Glenda Gilson, ventured back through the gates of RTE's rival station yesterday, after enjoying seven months at home raising baby boy Patrick.

But the star will not be in the showbiz studio, instead filling in for colleague Sybil Mulcahy on the Morning Show.

Mum-of-three Sybil left her position as co-anchor of the weekday programme with Martin King in April and is not due back until the autumn. TV3 installed newcomer Claire Brock in Sybil's hosting position.

Meanwhile, Colette Fitzpatrick welcomed her second child over the weekend and is the latest member of staff to depart in the TV3 baby boom.
