Model Sarah dodges war of words after joining Andrea's new agency
TOP model Sarah McGovern insists she has no interest in becoming embroiled in a war of words with her former agent Derek Daniels by discussing her decision to quit Assets this week.
The Diary can reveal how the blonde beauty decided to leave the popular agency after 11 years last Tuesday in order to sign up with her longtime friend Andrea Roche alongside fellow big names Rosanna Davison and Pippa O'Connor.
And her former representatives wasted no time in removing her profile from their website, with Sarah's pictures taken down the very afternoon she handed in her notice.
"It's something I'll keep private if that's okay," Sarah told the Diary when asked about her decision to leave Assets. "I've been with them for 11 years but I'm really looking forward to a new challenge and working with Andrea.
"We've been colleagues for a long time and we're also good friends. I truly believe in her and think she's a good businesswoman. I know I'm not a spring chicken but I still want to do everything I can do. Whether that's TV, catwalk, shoots, I'm happy to do it all," she added.
Sarah (30) went on to explain how her hubby of over two years, Kenny Vaughan is extremely supportive of her decision and has just started a new job himself.
The couple are college sweethearts and were together for almost 10 years before walking down the aisle in Sarah's local church in Glencullen.
And now that she's well settled into married life, the blonde beauty admits that following in her good friends Corina Grant and Ruth Griffin's footsteps and starting a family of her own is something that has been playing on her mind.
According to the leggy model: "I'm kind of coming around to the idea. It is something we've discussed but I don't think now would be the right time. I'm extremely busy at the moment with work and particularly with a move to a new agency I don't want to be pregnant walking down the runway.
"Kenny is working away as well. He's just started work with a golf company so he's happy out. He's over in England at the moment doing some training."
Ambitious Sarah is also being kept busy with her new business venture which sees her acting as a wholesale agent for jewellery lines Gemini and Miss Chic. The entrepreneurial model began her new line of work last summer in a bid to beat the recession and says business has been coming in steadily.
"I'm just the agent in Ireland but I wouldn't mind thinking about designing some myself in the future. Unfortunately I'm not quite Cindy Crawford, who can put my name to anything and have it sell," she said.
"You never know though, maybe someday. For now it's all good as it is."
