Maura using India trip for charity work
RTE presenter Maura Derrane is certainly putting her lengthy summer break from the small screen to good use.
The Diary can reveal how the glamorous Four Live host is currently in India alongside her husband, TD John Deasy, where they are volunteering their time to undertake charity work.
The pair took off for Calcutta last Sunday and will remain there until the middle of next week.
They will work with street children and the under-privileged during their visit, which takes place in conjunction with the Irish Hope Foundation.
"Maura does a lot of work for Hope and was really keen to go over and get to know the work that the volunteers out there do," said an insider.
"She's just going to be visiting the local children, as well as the vocational training centres and also accompanying some of the volunteers out on a night watch, which will give them the opportunity to see Calcutta from a different perspective."
