Mairead -- I was amazed by support for show on being a new mum

PRESENTER Mairead Farrell has revealed she was "absolutely floored" by the reaction to her documentary on body issues after pregnancy.

Mum-of-one Mairead said she couldn't believe it when over 50 emails and letters congratulating her arrived on her desk.

The 31-year-old admitted she was braced for a "mixed response" to the Hello Baby, Bye Bye Body programme which aired on RTE last December, but was thrilled when she didn't receive any negative feedback.

The Dubliner, who admits she has fought to win back her pre- baby body since having son Dara four years ago, said she felt reassured with the heartfelt messages of support.

"It was amazing, I loved that so many women got in touch to say that they had been feeling like I was. I did feel selfish about my feelings towards my body and how it looked after giving birth, it definitely eased that guilt," she told the Herald.

The chatty broadcaster has adopted a healthier lifestyle recently.

"When I work out everything in my life is better, so it's worth it," she said.

The brunette has ditched the junk food and has taken up running and boxing, as well as a hardcore bootcamp, four times a week to stay in shape.

Enjoying her first alcoholic drink in months last night, the mum-of-one has been celebrating her radio show's recent JNLR figure success.

Today FM's Ray D'Arcy show has seen a massive boost of 6,000 in the latest survey of listenership figures and is now at a total of 234,000.

Mairead and her colleagues hit the town for a swanky lunch to toast their success yesterday.

And the celebrations are set to continue into the weekend as Mairead and her boyfriend Louis Ronan (26), nephew of business tycoon Johnny Ronan, are looking forward to taking Dara to the Dublin Spring Series tonight.
