Madsen's Aston out of Gumball for speeding
Movie star Michael Madsen left the Gumball 3,000 Rally on its first day after police stopped his driver for speeding, event organisers said today.
The Reservoir Dogs actor flew to the US following the incident, which took place in Belgium on Saturday.
Organisers said he planned to rejoin the trip on its North American leg.
Madsen, travelling in an Aston Martin, was one of several celebrities who were cheered off from London's Pall Mall on Saturday.
The Wire's Idris Elba, US singer Eve and rapper Xzibit are also taking part in the annual event.
A Gumball 3,000 Rally spokeswoman said: "Michael was unlucky to be a passenger of a car that was stopped by police for speeding.
"He didn't know how long the driver would be with the police, so he decided to go straight to the US and will meet the rally when they arrive in the States later this week."
From Amsterdam, the 12th annual Gumball 3,000 Rally takes in stops in Copenhagen and Stockholm before the cars are flown to Boston.
They will continue to Quebec and Toronto before finishing in New York's Times Square on Friday.
