Love/Hate star BACK on stage. just don't SAY 'break a leg'!
Love/Hate's Peter Coonan looked the worse for wear when he showed up to the first day of rehearsals with his arm in a sling.
Peter, who plays Fran the Man, will star in theatre company The Corn Exchange's upcoming show Desire Under The Elms.
But the injury was not a result of gangland gun-fights or high-speed car chases.
He simply hurt his shoulder during a friendly game of five-a-side with pals.
"I hurt it playing football. I have some joint damage in my shoulder," he said.
"It happened two weeks ago, I need to get physio as well."
The Corn Exchange is known for its unique and stylised brand of physical theatre and Peter says he was apprehensive about his first day of rehearsals.
"They do yoga every morning for two hours before you start reading through.
"So it was nervewracking coming in with this sling. But you just try and test the water and get on with it."
The play opens on October 4 at Smock Alley Theatre in Temple Bar. Peter plays the part of Peter Cabot, a farmer.
This will be the 29-year-old first time on stage in years and he says he's looking forward to it.
"I did the 24-hour plays in The Abbey but apart from that I haven't been on stage since UCD," the Sandymount native said.
Peter weill be returning to our screens this Autumn, but not just on Love'Hate
His gravelly tones will be heard on TV3's new animated series Newsbag.
Billed as a cross between South Park and The IT Crowd, the show follows the lives of Moss, Lenny and Gig who work full time for news agency Newsbag.
"I play a character called My Spuddy. It's all different characters in a newsroom," he explained.
