Lohan in 'jewellery theft' probe
Lindsay Lohan is being investigated by police in Los Angeles for the possible theft of jewellery.
A police spokesman said a jewellery store in the Venice area of LA - where the troubled Mean Girls star now lives - reported a 2,500 dollar necklace missing on January 22.
He said a grand theft investigation was opened, and officers obtained a warrant to search Lindsay's home on Tuesday.
The jewellery was handed over to detectives before the warrant was executed.
The spokesman said the case is still under investigation.
Lindsay, 24, remains on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case and is due in court on February 25.
The star's frequent legal troubles, including lawsuits, two rehab stints and two trips to jail in 2010 alone, have led to her appearing more in court than on the big screen in recent years.
Her role as porn star Linda Lovelace in a biopic was recast while she was being treated at a Betty Ford facility.
