Lisa dodges TV3 baby boom
HER co-workers in TV3 are playing their part in the baby boom but it's clear that their broodiness has not rubbed off on Lisa Cannon.
Although her romance with Welsh rugby player Richard Keatley is continuing apace, she clearly has no plans to settle down anytime soon.
"It's funny. People think there's a major rush but I don't feel a biological clock ticking. I'd rather have my head and heart sorted out before I introduce children into the world.
"I'd rather be with the right support if I can find it and if I can't, well that's okay too," she said.
The TV presenter has been dating Richard, who's now based in Dublin, since meeting him in Tonic bar in Blackrock last summer.
And she explained how the pair initially struck up a conversation about his singer friend Charlotte Church, given that he's friends with Charlotte's ex Gavin Henson.
"I said I worked in the celebrity industry and it just took off from there," she said. But she admits that they were both very nervous on their first official date.
"I saw the menu shaking a couple of times which I thought was really sweet and endearing. I wear my heart on my sleeve so I did tell him a lot about myself. I'm such a blabbermouth -- he was overloaded with information -- but he did admit he'd Googled me before the first date which I was mortified by," she said.
Lisa had dated Sean Reid for eight years before meeting Richard and she said it took her a while to re-adjust to single life.
"Coming out of a long-term relationship, you're not really sure of who are you anymore and you need to rediscover that it's not Lisa and Sean, it's just Lisa. Suddenly your plans are your own. I found that hard to adjust to," she said.
