LILLIE'S co-owner Dave Morrissey is keeping his fingers crossed that his dream honeymoon won't be cancelled this week due to the volcano travel disruption.
The businessman, who will celebrate his nuptials to long-term girlfriend Doireann O'Leary at an extravagant reception in Kilronan Castle, Roscommon on Wednesday afternoon, explained how their honeymoon flight to Mombassa in Kenya on Saturday, was at high risk of being grounded.
"We have to go via Frankfurt in Germany, which is apparently exactly where the ash is headed next so we're praying that we'll get out okay," he told the Diary.
"We're thinking positively and hoping for the best. If we can't go, we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it. In terms of the wedding, I'm well used to planning events for everyone else so I'm not too stressed. It should be a good day. Roscommon won't know what hit it."
Among the well-known guests on the invitation list are Assets beauty and Lillie's hostess Hayley Rock, promoter Garret Brady, Rogue model boss Fiona Roche and Dave's business partner and co-owner of Lillie's and the Porterhouse venues, Oliver Hughes. In addition to celebrating his wedding, Dave will have plenty to toast on Wednesday following the success of his and Oliver's new Porterhouse pub in Shanghai. The bar will play host to Taoiseach Brian Cowen and President Mary McAleese when they jet to China for Ireland Day on June 17.
