PRESENTER Laura Whitmore is a step closer to a dream job on US television after beating off stiff competition to interview Jon Bon Jovi for MTV New York.
The bubbly TV star makes her debut on the popular American network later this week, after recording a sit- down interview with the It's My Life singer last Saturday.
Laura (26) has previously spoken of her hopes of following in the footsteps of her friend and colleague Tim Cash, who is one of a small number of UK-based presenters who has successfully made a name for himself stateside.
And the ambitious blonde could be the next to crack the tough US market, after driving through the night from the Glastonbury music festival in Somerset on Friday night to make it back to London to film with Bon Jovi, who is promoting his Circle World tour. Bon Jovi will be wowing fans at Dublin's RDS tonight and tomorrow.
"Laura was delighted when she was asked to do the interview," said a source close to the presenter.
"It's a huge step forward when it comes to her ambitions of making a name for herself in the States."
Laura has already interviewed Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole's replacement on the US X Factor earlier this month as well as superstar Jennifer Lopez.
