Laura jets off to I'm A Celeb jungle ... despite creepy-crawly terror

MTV star Laura Whitmore is heading into the jungle but admits she's terrified of creepy crawlies.

The Bray native has been confirmed as the new presenter of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now will be taking a break from her job at the music network in order to front the show.

Laura (26) who dates Coronas front man Danny O'Reilly discovered she would be taking over from Xtra Factor co-host Caroline Flack just last week.

She will front the show which runs directly after Ant and Dec's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Speaking to the Herald, the Irish star said she was over the moon to land the gig and said the new role was her dream job.

"I'm really excited to join the ITV family. Honestly it is a dream job. I've never been to Australia before, I can't wait to go over. I can't wait to get stuck into jungle life, though I will try my best to avoid all those creepy crawlies.

"I'm a huge fan of the show so it's really exciting," she said.

Despite having to leave her usual job for over six weeks, and being forced to skip the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast next month, Laura insists she will be back working for MTV in the new year.

"I'm flying out to Australia at the end of October for six weeks. So I am taking time off MTV but I will definitely be coming back to MTV news after the show is finished," she explained.

The DCU graduate will be joined on the newly revamped show by comedian Russell Kane and former EastEnders star Joe Swash, who was crowned King of the Jungle back in 2008.

Laura was flooded with hundreds of messages last night on her social networking site. Former presenter of the show Caroline Flack took to Twitter to congratulate the Bray star. "Congratulations to Laura Whitmore for getting the the jungle gig! Was such fun. She will be ace," she wrote.

Laura last night thanked her friends and fans for all the well wishes: "Wow completely blown away by all the lovely messages! You guys rock! Thanks so so much for the support," she wrote.

The line up for this year's show has not been confirmed yet.
