Jennifer: I'm going solo in my quest to find the perfect wedding dress
Finding that dream wedding dress is never easy.
While most brides-to-be turn to their sisters, friends and mothers for help, Republic of Telly star Jennifer Maguire has decided to buck the trend and fly solo.
"I've decided I'm just going to go and pick it out myself," she told the Diary.
"Just go it on my own. I tried bringing my mum and my friend but I just ended up leaning towards whatever dress they liked.
"It's down to three really. It won't be vintage but I think it will have lace on it. I love a bit of lace."
Jennifer (33) and her partner of seven years Lau Zamparelli got engaged in May 2012 and they will tie the knot in the majestic grounds of Castle Leslie in Co Monaghan in July 2014.
It's the same place Sir Paul McCartney and ex-wife Heather Mills said their 'I dos' back in 2002.
"The fact that Macca got hitched there did not sway us at all," Jennifer laughed. "It's just the right venue for us – size-wise and everything."
"We're not having a massive wedding – it's going to be close friends and family. So we thought Castle Leslie was perfect.
"It takes so much time to plan a wedding. And we're not great at just chatting about it – we're both so busy. We need to actually set aside time to organise it.
"And we keep changing our minds about everything, we wanted to go to Japan for the honeymoon last week and now we're thinking of Malaysia."
One thing she's certain of – the dance floor will be a boogie wonderland.
Jennifer recently starred in Priscilla Queen of the Desert and says there will be plenty of cheesy disco hits.
The TV star is busy filming the current series of Republic of Telly and says she thinks the show is going from strength to strength with Kevin McGahern at the helm.
She said: "It is a tough gig – and people will say negative things like 'where's Dermot?' but that's part of it. When Dermot took over from Neil Delamere it was the same. He's doing a great job."
Jennifer was chatting at the launch of Meteor's €1m Christmas giveaway alongside her "on-screen husband" Bernard O'Shea.
Comedian O'Shea has just landed a new dating show on RTE2 and Jennifer is thrilled for him.
"It's called My Best Shot and I think he is going to be just brilliant," she said.
"It'll let people see a very different side to his personality. On Republic of Telly he's acting the class clown and being a bit of an eejit. But this time round he'll be a matchmaker."
