Jedward just another turkey, blasts Logan in attack on RTE
EUROVISION egomaniac Johnny Logan has slammed RTE for picking Jedward as this year's representatives.
The three-times winner (56) launched a scathing attack on the broadcaster, saying its bosses had "destroyed any credibility" Ireland had by sending through the X Factor stars.
And he likened the Lucan twins to the disastrous Dustin the Turkey, who was sent as our representative at the 2008 contest.
"I don't want to give Jedward any credibility by talking about them," he said. "It's a song contest, not an X Factor.
"The people in RTE, that's their problem. They can't get this simple fact into their heads that they need a song first.
"They have destroyed any credibility by using people like Dustin, by using people like this in the Eurovision Song Contest."
And he said that talented songwriters are no longer putting their best material forward.
"They are still trying to find songs, and the best songwriters won't give their songs any more. That's the reason that they are masters of their own destruction," he added.
Logan made the revelations in an interview on a Romanian TV station, and even said that the only reason he appeared on the special edition of the Late Late Show last year was as a personal favour to host Ryan Tubridy.
He also claimed RTE bosses still want him to represent Ireland instead of Jedward, and have been asking him for years. RTE said it "didn't agree" with his viewpoint, but that "he is of course entitled to it".
