In the name of love, Bono and pals step out in real style for Andrea's big day

Singer Andrea Corr and Brett Desmond smiled politely for members of the public and photographers on the happiest day of their lives.

The Corrs' frontwoman and stockbroker Brett (33), who is the son of billionaire businessman Dermot Desmond, waved at the crowds after exchanging vows in St Joseph's Church in Milltown Malbay, Co Clare.

While many stars opt for a big-money deal with a glossy magazine and do their best to shield their wedding day from the public until the magazine hits the shelves, there was no such thing with Andrea (35) and Brett yesterday.

The couple kissed after leaving the church and posed for pictures, while members of the bridal and groom parties, plus guests -- including U2 rocker Bono and Jim Corr -- waved at members of the crowd.

Petite Andrea looked breathtaking in her Vera Wang strapless gown, with her hair swept up in a classic up-do.

There were some tears during the ceremony as Andrea's late mother Jean Corr was remembered.

An insider revealed: "There were tears when Andrea's mother was prayed for in the Prayers of the Faithful.

"It was such a special day and she was dearly missed by all the family. They wanted to take a moment to remember people close to them who couldn't be there."

Stars including Bono and footballing legends such as former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan and Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill turned out to celebrate Andrea and Brett's big day.

Eager Brett turned up at the church a full 45 minutes ahead of the blushing bride. Wearing a grey suit, white shirt and pink tie, Brett was joined by his brother and best man Ross.

Andrea made it on time, arriving in a plush Mercedes just before 3pm and waved to the crowds before heading inside to say 'I do'.

Bridesmaids Sharon and Caroline Corr, Brett's sister Zoe Desmond and Andrea's long-time best friend Niamh McElwaine looked stunning in low-cut, figure-hugging lilac gowns and happily smiled for all who wanted a snap.

Andrea's proud brother Jim Corr arrived just before her with his son Brandon, who was the one of the page boys. Caroline's two children, Jake and Georgina, and Sharon's kids, Cal and Flori, also joined the star-studded ceremony.

Andrea's father Gerry Corr walked her up the aisle to the tune of The Irish Boy by Mark Knopfler. Irish traditional airs were played throughout.

Andrea opted for a very private celebration at the Doonbeg Golf Resort and Spa.

Among the 350 invited guests were some of Ireland's leading business tycoons, including JP McManus, Denis O'Brien and Denis Desmond.
