I'm no cheap knockoff -- Ray
dating show Take Me Out is no "cheap knockoff" insists its presenter Ray Foley.
The 30-year-old Today FM broadcaster said TV3 bosses were delighted with the first episode which pulled in 20pc of the audience share, despite competing against heavyweight, The Late Late Show.
"They seemed very happy that I made it my own," he said.
"There were concerns, when the show was formulated, that I would mimic Paddy McGuinness [who hosts ITV's version] but they were happy that it was distinctly 'us'. The producer was concerned that it would be a cheap knockoff and it isn't."
While some of the girls on the show have been criticised for being harsh to male contestants, Ray denied that TV3 had received any negative feedback.
"That's the nature of the show," he explained.
"If they don't find them attractive that's how it goes, but I should say that for the first episode, girls are going to be more choosy.
"I think that they just want to push the button to see what the experience is like, but you'll find the girls get a little bit more realistic."
