I'll battle Amy in handbag fight at IFTAs - Charlene

ACTRESS Charlene McKenna insists she is backing her close pal Amy Huberman all the way at this year's much-anticipated IFTAs -- despite being nominated in the same category.

But don't rule out a handbag fight for the glory.

The RAW star claims there will be no hard feelings between her and Brian O'Driscoll's wife, no matter what the outcome of the Actress In A Lead Role category on February 12, given that their friendship goes way back to their early days on the acting circuit.

Monaghan beauty Charlene (26) joked that the high-profile pair are even toying with the idea of staging a mock fight on the night.

"It's so funny, myself and Amy had a good laugh over it because we're actually good friends. We're also close to Ruth Bradley who is also nominated," Charlene told the Herald.

"The minute we all found out, we all texted and it was just lots of banter about all the craic we're going to have.

"We started joking saying we should stage a handbag fight for the press.

"But we're all just flattered to be nominated, we're not taking it too seriously. I'll be delighted for whoever wins, it could be Amy or any of the nominees. We'll see.

"There's no rivalry or anything like that between us at all. I know that's boring but honestly that's truth," she added.

Charlene has been nominated for her role as Jo-Jo in RTE restaurant drama RAW and, while there's always plenty of drama in her character's love-life, the star was tight-lipped on her relationship status in real life.
