I won't hit the catwalk until I've hung up my crown -- Rose Tara

REIGNING Rose of Tralee Tara Talbot has admitted she won't be joining the modelling industry anytime soon.

There had been claims that the Queensland beauty was joining Georgia Salpa's former modelling agency Assets, but the Diary can confirm that the pageant queen is in no rush.

Tara has explained that modelling is something she will consider in the future, but with six months left in her reign, she only wants to focus on Rose of Tralee duties.

"As the Rose of Tralee I won't be doing any modelling right now, definitely not. But who knows when I've handed over my sash. When this year is over I'll be interested in a lot of different things. I'm still looking to move into marketing for non-profit organisations too," she explained.

And the striking brunette admitted that she never worries about her image. Although she is constantly in the public eye, Tara said she never feels she has to worry about her weight.

"It's important for me to stay healthy and be as fit as I can. I get very well fed everywhere I go. I just have to control myself, but I'm a bit of a sucker for chocolate, I can never say no to desserts. I just need to find a good balance.

"I don't feel pressure though. Especially with the Rose of Tralee, I don't think it's that type of pageant. They don't want someone really skinny representing them, they want a healthy girl like myself," she explained.

Meanwhile, Tara (27) admitted she can't wait to travel to New York for this year's St Patrick's Day celebrations where she will walk in the famous parade and then spend a few weeks sight-seeing with her Irish boyfriend Fionnan Henry.

"I can't wait because I've never been to New York before and some of the roses and escorts from last year are coming so it's going to be like one big reunion," she said.
