I didn't realise I was in labour, says Love/Hate actress Denise
LOVE/HATE actress Denise McCormack has taken on her most important role yet-- being a mum.
While her former co-star Aoibhinn McGinnity has been turning heads in the new M&S ad campaign, new mum Denise -- who played gangland wife Linda on the hit RTE series -- has been getting to know her baby boy.
The Drimnagh native gave birth to her first child on her due date, March 11, at 1.19am and the baby weighed in at 8lbs 5oz.
"I had a natural birth, so I was very lucky. I didn't even know I was in labour to be honest -- I had back pain on Saturday and looked it up online, so that evening I went straight in," Denise told the Herald.
"I got in at 7pm and had the baby hours later -- I don't think it could have gone any better to be honest. It was all so quick.
"I'd been hearing horror stories, but it wasn't like that by any accounts. You just don't know what to expect, but it went great and he's very placid, a very good baby," she added.
The IFTA award-winning actress and her husband have yet to decide on a name for their bundle of joy, but Denise insisted it'll come to her eventually: "I went in to the hospital with no boys names, we didn't agree on any beforehand. We kept saying when we saw him, we'd know. I'm fine with it, but everyone keeps asking what his name is, it'll come to me soon."
The Dubliner is "up and about already" and visited her family the day after she returned home.
"I feel great and I even got eight hours of sleep the other night ... I'm breastfeeding, it's more demanding but we've taken to it quite well so far."
The rising star plans to return to work within weeks and hopes to be back in the gym to return to her pre-baby body in a couple of months, when "things start heating up in the industry".
"I love the gym and find it really calming," she added.
