How Nadia lost starring panto role to model pals
MODEL Nadia Forde lost out to Georgia Salpa and Michele McGrath in a bid to star in the Christmas panto Sleeping Beauty.
The popular Assets model has revealed that she made it to the final five in auditions but didn't make the cut.
However, despite the setback she is hoping to swap the catwalk for the stage in the coming year.
Nadia's New Year resolution is to follow her dream and move into the world of dance and drama after finally growing the confidence to take on musical theatre.
The gorgeous brunette revealed that she got down to the final five to become Sleeping Beauty in this year's Cheerios panto, where she would have sung alongside model pal Michele.
Georgia, inset right, was originally cast in the role but dropped out at the last minute.
Although producer Alan Hughes was impressed by Nadia's talents she didn't land the role, but now the model says getting so close has pushed her to make big career move.
"I nearly ended up in the panto this year. Michele is a close friend of mine and she is doing great. I went for the role of Sleeping Beauty and I actually got down to the final five, but it didn't work out at the end.
"This year I need to figure out what my next move is, career wise. I'm really interested in musical theatre and it's something I really want to get into. This year is all about doing that and setting myself some goals.
"I was interested in it for years, I did it all the way through school, I was always singing and dancing from the age of four but I went through a phase during my teenage years and I just stopped. But I really do enjoy it.
"My dream job would to actually work in Disneyland, be one of those princesses who sings and dances all the time. Something like that would be cool," she laughed.
And the leggy model says she will begin going for more auditions throughout the year.
"Now that I've had a few auditions I feel less nervous and I will definitely get into more. I don't know if it is panto exactly that I want but I definitely want to be involved in musical theatre," she admitted.
Meanwhile, the Clontarf beauty says she is still continuing to DJ after her debut alongside Roger Sanchez at the Wright Venue back in August.
Speaking at the launch of Kellogg's Dare To Wear Red campaign, Nadia said she is still working with FM104 and is enjoying being a celebrity DJ.
"I'm still DJing a little bit. I really enjoy it and I'm still working with FM104. Not as much as I used to but I'm still there. I'm always in touch with the boss there so it's nice to have that too," she explained.
Although Nadia is gearing up for a busy year career wise, the model admitted that she spent the Christmas holidays being lazy and decided to stay in Ireland for New Year's Eve instead of holidaying with her pals.
"Christmas was great. I literally did nothing. And I spent New Year's Eve in with my gran, we did the countdown together. Honestly, I didn't feel like going out, I wanted to relax," she said.
