Holly was a winner even at 15... and we spotted her first
MISS IRELAND Holly Carpenter may be taking the modelling world by storm -- but she was spotted first by the Herald a long time ago.
The beauty queen enjoyed her first ever photo shoot with the Herald way back in 2007, when she was just 15.
Posing for a features fashion shoot at the Dundrum Town Centre as a young student, Holly showed she already looked the part and, though admitting to being very nervous, was a true professional.
A natural in front of the cameras, Holly, now 19, was snapped sporting a range of outfits at the popular shopping centre and, even then, looked glamorous and elegant.
No stranger to the catwalk these days, Holly's decision to go into modelling came after she reached the finals of the Irish competition Ford Model Search.
The Raheny girl is now taking a year out from her hectic degree in textiles at NCAD to represent Ireland in the Miss World beauty pageant in November.
She has decided to sing as part of her on-stage talent at the competition and admits she would love to take on The Script.
"I'd like to sing something by The Corrs, The Script or U2 and play acoustic guitar with it -- I think that'd be different. I have until November to learn the guitar and perfect it, so I want to pick my song as soon as possible."
And Holly says she would love to go down the design route as well as modelling. "I'd also love to design a range of T-shirts similar to the cool style of designer All-Saints."
Designers have been queuing up to dress her for the big night at Miss World -- but Holly insists she is going to have her frock made by pal Brendan Scully.
"Brendan is making my dress from loads of Swarovski crystals -- I want to be really sparkly and stand out."
