Hands up who spent Valentine's with mum

IRISH rugby star Tommy Bowe spent St Valentine's Day with a special woman -- his mother.

Due to work commitments on both sides of the Irish Sea, loved-up Tommy and his former Miss Wales girlfriend Lucy Whitehouse didn't get to spend the day together this year.

But the Irish winger was only too happy to spend the day with his mother while at home in his native Monaghan.

The sports ace has been dating Lucy for the last nine months but the pair couldn't make time for each other this Valentine's.

Speaking to the Herald, Tommy admitted that he enjoyed the special day with his mother instead of romancing part-time nurse Lucy.

"Unfortunately I couldn't get away for Valentine's this year. I had to stay in Ireland, so yes I was alone on Valentine's.

"But I did spend the day with my mum," he revealed.

Meanwhile the Ospreys star admitted he was looking forward to this weekend's clash against Italy.

Tommy was doubtful for the postponed clash against France thanks to a knee injury but he will be back out on the pitch at The Aviva this Saturday.

Speaking at the screening of Reservoir Dogs at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, the sports star said he was looking forward to it.

As well as celebrating being back on the pitch, Tommy will also be celebrating his birthday this weekend as the Ireland star turned 28 on Monday.
