Grace gives disc jockey mum a new kind of early morning show
She may have arrived earlier than expected, but 11-week-old Grace is clearly a hit with her disc jockey mum Anne Marie Kelly.
Having just taken maternity leave from her morning- presenting gig on Today FM last September, the DJ was shocked when her little bundle of joy arrived three and a half weeks early.
She told the Herald: "I finished work on the Tuesday and on Thursday I got the shock of a lifetime when I went into labour.
"I woke up in the middle of the night as you tend to do when you're pregnant to go to the bathroom and next thing I knew my waters had broken.
"I really couldn't believe it, I wasn't prepared for it at all because she wasn't due but thankfully she arrived into the world happy and healthy.
"Luckily I had packed my bag in advance," she laughed.
And Anne Marie said she doesn't know how she ever lived without Grace.
"I absolutely love motherhood, it's just brilliant.
"I don't even remember what I used to do before now because she's just been with me every single day.
"The one thing I would say is that I definitely don't enjoy all those sleepless nights.
"I thought being an early-morning presenter would help me but nothing prepares you for the lack of sleep.
"You're trying to continue living a normal life but it's impossible. I wouldn't change any of it, though.
"My husband is absolutely infatuated with her as well. He calls the two of us his little women," she added. However, Anne Marie is adamant she will go back to work when her maternity leave finishes.
"I really do miss being on the radio," she said. "I can't even listen to the radio at the time when my show was on because it would be just too painful.
"It's just too hard to tune into it and apart from that I'm usually either feeding Grace or trying to catch up on sleep when it's on."
