Gorillaz are set for Dublin
CHART-TOPPING band Gorillaz are set to arrive in Dublin for their first Irish show this year when they play one massive night at the O2 in September.
Following their recent performances at US Festival Coachella and the Roundhouse in London, Damon Albarn's outfit will bring the Escape To Plastic Beach Tour to Dublin for one night only.
Tickets for the September 22 show will go on sale at 9am on Friday, May 21 and will cost €59.80.
- EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the forthcoming Irish Guineas Festival which will take place at the Curragh Racecourse on Saturday May 22 and Sunday, May 23.
The weekend of racing will have a distinctly Arabic flavour with partners including Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Etihad Airways lined up to sponsor the event.
Punters can look forward to an impressive new garden enclosure adjacent to the parade ring which will feature a Guineas Festival Shopping Village, and a senior member of the Abu Dhabi ruling family is expected to be in attendance over the weekend.

The upmarket department store will also be welcoming a host of other visiting make-up artists across each of their stores throughout the event.
- A HOST of big names stepped out last Wednesday night for a special charity celeb quiz at Cafe en Seine which raised an impressive €12,000.
Chris Doyle of Dublin's 98 acted as official MC on the night, while quizmasters included Image magazine editor, Melanie Morris, Xpose's Lisa Cannon who hosted the movie round, Tony Clayton Lea who was in charge of music and Nick Munier, who was on hand for the food and wine round.
Among the celebs who assisted on the night by joining tables and scorekeeping were Herald columnist Colette Fitzpatrick, Anna Daly, Sybil Mulcahy, Alan Shortt and Aisling O'Loughlin.
- LAST night saw the first live broadcast of RTE's brand new talent show Fame: The Musical go out on the small screen with the ten chosen finalists taking to the stage in the Helix together for the first time.
Fans of the programme saw contestants tread the boards to perform hits from well known acts including Cheryl Cole, Pixie Lott and Snow Patrol for the pop-themed week.
