GlobetrotterBlathnaid is back on the catwalk
Model Blathnaid McKenna says she's staying put in Ireland after taking a year off to travel.
The former Miss Ireland told the Diary that since jetting back from her trip to Australia and Asia, she's decided to keep Ireland as her base for her modelling career.
"I just came back from travelling.
"I was over in Australia and south east Asia, it was amazing over there. It was something I had always planned on doing.
"When I graduated from university I went straight into modelling, so I always wanted to go travelling. I went for just over a year and I loved it," she said.
However, she admitted to feeling homesick while she was away.
"I am glad to be home. It is an amazing part of the world but it is very far away in terms of staying in touch with friends and family. I'm really close to my family so it was difficult for me," she explained.
Since jetting back to Ireland, Blathnaid has strutted the catwalk for Diane Von Furstenberg's Divine Goddess collection and has just launched the new season of fashion store Coast.
"I'm working away here in Dublin keeping busy. Autumn/Winter is always the busiest time of the year.
"The minute the first of September hits there's a lot more shows," she said.
